How to Maximize Your Total Loss Payout in Colorado
The first offer is rarely the best offer. Insurance companies build a total loss settlement from a valuation report, and that report is only as good as the information behind it.
Start with comparables. Your insurer pulls similar vehicles from the local market. If those vehicles have higher mileage, fewer options, or worse condition than yours, the resulting number will be too low. Ask for the valuation report and read the comparables line by line.
Then document your vehicle. Trim level, factory and dealer-installed options, recent tires, new brakes, service records, and overall condition all move the number. A vehicle with a documented $2,400 in recent maintenance is not the same vehicle as the base-model comparable next to it.
Don't forget the add-ons. Sales tax, title and registration fees are typically owed on top of the actual cash value in Colorado. If your settlement statement doesn't show them, ask why.
Finally, slow down. Once you accept, the file closes. There is no penalty for asking questions, requesting the valuation report, or submitting additional documentation before you agree to terms.
That's exactly the work we do for free. With 20+ years of experience, we assess your vehicle and hand your adjuster a complete file. Call 720-712-3561 for a free consultation.
